Welcome to my monthly e letter! The "e" stands for
energy. My intention is to infuse you with new energy,
and nourish you with quotes, book recommendations,
fresh insights, and places I am floundering. I wanted to
connect more often than once a year when I write a new
book, or briefly in person on a book tour.
In fact, I felt so inspired by your responses that we have

My vision is to have this turn into a forum, a place to

MARJORIE'S MIRACLE
=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=
When I was 10 years old, my best Friend was 80. His
name was Mr. Boggs and he called me his "twirly friend"
because I did wheelies on my bicycle in his driveway. Mr.
Boggs got very sick and went into the hospital, and my
Mom told me he probably wouldn't be coming back.
When I asked what I could do, she said, "Just love him
and let him know it." So I made a card or poster for him
and sent them to the hospital.
Mr. Boggs did make it out of the hospital, and he said, "I
think you saved my life. No one else called or wrote, and
I had to get out to see you."
I decided right then that I would be a writer. I thought that
my books could be like those cards and posters to Mr.
Boggs, for the world.
Last month, when my mother, Marvelous Marjorie, was in
pain in a nursing home, I asked if people would send her
a card or a note. Many hundreds of people did. She got
mail from all over the world! 25-35 pieces of mail per
day came to her nursing home in Minnesota. She said,
"You cannot IMAGINE what they're sending me! Poems,
paintings, cards and letters of encouragement. I wish I
could tell each person what this means to me."
I told her that I would tell you. From the center of my heart
- THANK YOU! Thank you also if you sent her energy or
prayers or thought about writing. THOUGHT COUNTS!
Another miracle occurred in the form of 2 teachers
named Jeanne and Pam, who e-mailed to ask if they
could visit her. They brought sunflowers and laughter and
a friend named Linda, who is a healer and energy
worker. Linda is now working with my Mom. Bless these
3 angels.
So, it's Marjorie's Miracle, and it is really everybody's
miracle because this kind this kind of energy travels.
Marvelous Marjorie is still at the care center, trying to
walk again. She has cards and letters up on a bulletin
board and around her bed. She shares them with her
visitors, too. Her son's girlfriend, Tanya, sent her a map
of the world so we can put up dots for every place a letter
has come from. The world has come into her room!

These kinds of miracles are happening everyday. Let's
remember to magnify all the miracles and surround
ourselves with their light, when we're not exploring the
dark (remember, you can bring a flashlight).
THINGS TO TRY FOR MAGNIFYING MIRACLES
-=- Extend yourself in new ways.
At first, I felt shy about asking for cards for my Mom.
Now, I'm so glad I did! The cards go so much further
than my Mom and her situation - their energy is
expansive and miraculous, and extends to all of us.
-=- Open yourself to receive.
Receiving needs a lot more practice than giving.
Receiving involves softening and surrender. Practice
daily.
-=- Give Mighty Thanks
Gratitude is a magnet for miracles. Practice fiercely.
THINGS TO TRY FOR EXPLORING DARK PLACES
-=- Remember you are not alone
Isolation makes the dark darker. Tell the truth about your
"actual experience" and actual self. You have
companions all around you.
-=- Allow the pain
It is tempting to run far and fast from pain. If you can wait
even 1 more second with pain, it will change shape.
-=- Be incredibly kind to yourself
Exploring the darkness is like heavy construction work,
and needs extra care and kindness. Remember to
drench yourself with love - especially when it's the last
thing you feel like doing. You can ask for help from a
friend if you've forgotten how to apply self-love.

I SEND TO YOU
A curious stone in the shape of a shoe. You step into this
stone shoe and find yourself feeling very grounded on
one foot, and very liberated on the other. You stand in the
center of your life and smile in the present moment. All
futurizing falls away and the past fades to a happy blur.
You are fully, exquisitely, and truly in your life in this

I had a fabulous time appearing as a facilitator on Cheryl
Richardson's Life Makeover Project on Oxygen. We
